Proving once again that Hollywood loves a winner, with The Odyssey crushing the box office, the action/fantasy genre is all the rage in Hollywood.

What's surprising is that the spec script sale has no filmmaker or producer attachments, no actors on board as of yet. Paramount Primal, Paramount’s genre label formed by producers J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, won a bidding war for Tower Defense, an original Medieval fantasy by Evan Daugherty whose previous credits unclude ‘Snow White and the 'Huntsman’.  He is a proven talent with his films bringing in $1.5 billion dollars.

So does this and other recent sales signal the spec market is back? Probably not, but at lease there's movement... if you're a proven talent.
