According  to The Hollywood Reporter, Heidi Gardner and William H. Macy are set to star in writer-director Casey Twenter's dramedy The Swimming Lesson. Production is scheduled to begin this summer in Kansas City, Gardner's home town. Twenter is known for RUDDERLESS and the TV series "In the Rough."

The Swimming Lesson centers on a single mother who leaves Los Angeles to return to her roots and a more simpler life. There, she becomes embroiled in a custody battle over her autistic son who is obsessed with the ocean but terrified of swimming.
