Charlie Kaufman became popular with his excellent screenplays for Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Then after a string of hit movies and amazing screenplays he kinda disappeared. His last film six years ago, I’m Thinking of Ending Things -- a Netflix original.

Well he is back, and is directing as well. His latest screenplay (movie) Later The War is at the Cannes Film Festival. The movie stars Tessa Thompson, Channing Tatum, Patsy Ferran. It is described as a  "surreal comedy-drama about a successful actor-director chasing artistic legitimacy while his marriage unravels," while IMDB description says, "[it] follows a dream manufacturer who begins creating nightmares for people."  If you know the kind of movies Kauffman writes, if you've seen them, you know this sounds very much like a "Kauffmanesque" production.

The movie is much anticipated and according to the Hollywood Reporter, "should resonate" with movie-goers and of course potential buyers as it is looking for distribution.
