Kamen is perhaps one of the more underrated screenwriters working today in the biz. His first script "Taps" was an astonishing debut for the writer and showcased his gritty style of storytelling. He has also show sophistication and has almost always displayed highly crafted stories when motivated. Interesting tidbit, he helped write the screenplay for "The Devil's Own" (1997) starring Brad Pitt, but due to numerous disagreements and rewrites he was never credited with writing the movie. Brad Pitt stood by Kamen's original screenplay in a Newsweek article.
