Tim McCanlies hired to adapt Piers Anthony novel. A screenwriter has been found to adapt the first book in fantasy author Piers Anthony's long-running XANTH series of novels. Tim McCanlies (SECONDHAND LIONS) will turn Anthony's first Xanth novel, A SPELL FOR CHAMELEON, into a feature screenplay for Warner Bros. TROY helmer Wolfgang Petersen is attached to direct the movie for the studio.
A SPELL FOR CHAMELEON was first published in 1977 and is set in a fantasy world where every person has the ability to cast one unique spell of their own. CHAMELEON centers on a young man named Bink who seems to have no magical power whatsoever, prompting him to set out on a perilous quest to discover what his power is or isn't.
