Little Nicky

Little Nicky reads more like a transcript than a screenplay. It is hard to believe that everything went exactly as planned from page to screen. However there are some asides and a few other little quirks that leave me wondering.

But if you just go with the flow and pretend that you are reading a script, and not the result of hours spent pausing and rewinding by some sweaty pawed teenaged Sandler fan, you will find a funny, very punchy script. The timing of the jokes, even on paper, is like clockwork and the payoff alone, Ozzy bites the head off the bad guy, is worth the read.

Although it is a great read and funnier on paper, sans Sandler’s affected impediment, it does display a good many “bad habits” that aspiring screenwriters are encouraged to avoid.
