Interestingly enough, this talented screenwriter has had a hard time following up his success with a sustained writing career. Perhaps by choice? His work on "The Graduate" (1967) should have lead to a spectacular writing career, but instead his work stagnated. In 1973 his writing career appeared to be mercifully at an end with the aweful "The Day of the Dolphin". Fast forward 22 years and he masterfully writes "To Die For" (1995). However, his acting career has sustained throught the decades. After limited success as a stage actor, Buck Henry established himself as a sketch writer and performer in 1960s TV. He wrote comedy material for Garry Moore and Steve Allen before landing a regular post in 1961 as a writer-performer on the final season of "The Steve Allen Show" on NBC.
