Dreamworks Dominates at the Box Office

Here is a summary of how this summer’s box office total of $3.75 billion breaks down:
$686 million - Dreamworks

$365 million - Universal
$312 million - Buena Vista
$213 million - Paramount
$152 million - Lion’s Gate
$105 million - New Line
$51 million - MGM
$45 million - Fox Searchlight

Exhibitor Relations has stated that 638 million tickets were sold this summer, 1% off from last year and 3% off from 2002.
Based on the 2003 average ticket price of $6.03, and a summer B.O. of $4 billion, admissions should be at an all-time high of 663 million. Exhibitor Relations is assuming the average ticket price jumped 4% as it did between ’02 and ’03, from $5.81 to $6.03.
