THE BOLD AND THE BRAVE Oscar Winning Screenwriter Passes

Screenwriter Robert Lewin has passed away at the age of 84. Lewin died Aug. 28 of lung cancer at his home in Santa Monica, longtime friend Worley Thorpe told the AP.
He most recently was a producer for "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Lewin received an Academy Award nomination for his very first screenwriting credit, a 1956 war movie, "The Bold and the Brave." Based on his experiences fighting in Italy in World War II, the movie starred Mickey Rooney.
He also wrote or produced many episodes for television shows, including "Mission: Impossible," "Gunsmoke," "The Fugitive" and others.
He is survived by a sister, Doris Neuman of New Mexico; children Cheryl, Lian and James; and four grandchildren.
