New Line Bets On MOULIN ROUGE
New Line has struck a deal with Will Smith and Gary Ross (PLEASANTVILLE, 1999)
to develop the 1950's casino drama MOULIN ROUGE. Walter Mosley, the author of
"Devil In The Blue Dress", which eventually became a Denzel Washington flick,
has been hired to write the script. Smith will star and Ross may direct.
STORYLINE: The Moulin Rouge, located in Vegas was America's
first interracial hotel and casino. It was hugely popular, attracting
the likes of The Rat Pack, Louis Armstrong, and Lionel Hampton. At
the height of it's popularity, however, it suddenly and mysteriously
shut down.
