X-MEN Scribe to Make Directorial Debut...
May 12th, 2004
According to the Hollywood Reporter, "X-Men" screenwriter David Hayter is such a fan of the "The Black Widow" that he named his daughter after the character when she was born this month. Hayter credits also include "X2: X-Men United." He also did some work on "The Hulk" and will work on "Iron Man."
But most importantly, Hayter will make his directorial debut on "The Black Widow," based on an early Marvel Comics character. The Black Widow is also known by her other identity: Natasha Romanova, a Russian spy who made her debut in "The Invincible Iron Man." She also was part of the superteams assembled in "The Champions" and "The Avengers" comics series. She ultimately became a love interest of Daredevil, gaining her popularity in the "Daredevil" comics.
Reportedly, Hayter's version, at birth the Black Widow is given to the KGB, which grooms her to become its ultimate operative. When the U.S.S.R. breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action moves to present-day New York, where she is a freelance operative.
