Script Report: THE RIP
May 12th, 2004
A new heist film is in development at Working Title Films, the British production company that's giving us THUNDERBIRDS later this year. THE RIP centers on a thief who plans a heist of valuable gems from the Millennium Dome. However, the twist occurs when the burglar uses the initial theft of the diamonds as a diversion for another bigger crime that comes with double the payoff.
The script is by David Logan and was inspired by the real-life attempted jewelry heist that six thieves were planning on making back in 2000. Police stopped the thieves from ripping off half a billion dollars worth of diamonds after being tipped off.
