WGAw Cracking Down on Late Payers

If you're a member of the Writers Guild of America and are still waiting to be paid by a company for services contractually rendered, the WGA is starting to take a harder stance with late paying companies. Apparently some writers may be somewhat reluctant to claim what's rightfully due to them. According to an in-depth release on the official WGAw website, things are about to change:

Timely payment is your right guaranteed by your MBA. The Guild won the right for writers to be paid within 48 hours after delivery, sale or option of literary material. Interest at the rate of 1.5% per month accrues on any unpaid initial compensation, starting 7 days after delivery.

How does that does that help members on a practical level? It means the Guild is there to assist you in addressing the problem and protecting your rights as a member. Writers who are stuck between a rock and a hard place with money due will find the answers to such questions as...

When Should I Involve the Guild?
What's Important When Contacting the Guild Regarding Late Payment?
What If I Receive Payment But No Late Fees?
What if the Company Won't Pay?

For a better look at how Guild members can take advantage of the late payment services, check out the WGAw for more.
