Van Sant Takes on Music Scene in LAST DAYS...
May 12th, 2004
Gus Van Sant, who won the Palme d'Or at Cannes with "Elephant", which polarized its audiences but nonetheless was an accomplishment, is set to explore Seattle's grunge music scene with his next outing, "Last Days."
The Oscar-nominated director of "Good Will Hunting" is close to putting together "Last Days" with Michael Pitt (Bernardo Bertolucci's "The Dreamers") on board to star and HBO Films on board to finance, the trades confirmed. Kurt Cobain and his band Nirvana were at the forefront of the music scene in and around Seattle during the mid-1990s. Van Sant will direct from his own script. His other credits include "To Die For," My Own Private Idaho" and "Drugstore Cowboy."
