Kiss 'Goldmember' Good-Bye

The decision is final. New Line cannot call its upcoming Austin Powers flick GOLDMEMBER. It seems pretty ridiculous to talk about this, now as were at war, caring a damn if a movie gets a name like GOLDMEMBER. But...I dont know...doesnt this just make an angry bubble of laughter gurgled up out of your throat? Clearly, this is a pissing contest. MGM had a thorn in its side about Myers, the movie, the world. MGM should love that Myers makes references to BOND movies. That keeps them fresh for the young kids who have never seen BOND movies and think of Connery as the dude from ENTRAPMENT.
The claim that POWERS III is capitalizing on the BOND franchise and using it, somehow, to boost its own gain is moronic. THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME probably outgrossed the last BOND flick, and if anything -- AUSTIN is certainly the cooler of the franchises and has the more valuable name.
In the end: what does it matter? THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME was going to be jokingly called THE WRATH OF KHAN, right? They changed that to something better. Maybe they should call this one: UNTITLED (OR, HOW I STOPPED CARING ABOUT TITLES AND LEARNED MGM IS A BUNCH OF JEALOUS DOUCHE BAGS). It works!
