Script Report: GLADIATOR 2

DreamWorks Pictures and Universal Pictures have apparently decided a sequel to GLADIATOR -- which won the best picture Oscar last year -- is a good idea. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they have hired scribe John Logan(9GLADIATOR) to pen a follow-up. Logan was part of the original Oscar-nominated writing team with David Franzoni and William Nicholson. Although details of the plot are being kept under wraps, it reportedly will pick up 15 years after the end of the first installment, which saw the demise of several lead characters, including Maximus (Crowe). Lined up to produce are Franzoni. Logan's other projects and credits include THE TIME MACHINE for DreamWorks and THE LAST SAMURAI (which we will review this week) for Warner Bros.
