Script Updates: THE FOUNTAIN and TROY

There's been rumors all week that Brad Pitt is going to pull out of Warner Bros. Pictures' sci-fi project THE FOUNTAIN. The Hollywood Report reports that the actor hasn't decided yet, and further, sources close to the production are claiming that Pitt disliked the script's latest draft (to the best of our knowledge the script is being written by Darren Aronofsky, the director, and Ari Handler), for which preproduction has already begun with an October start date in Australia. Cate Blanchett and Ellen Burstyn are on board and the studio is said to have rented Pitt a beachfront house. Meanwhile, Aronofsky has reportedly been quietly seeking a possible replacement. Word has it that Russell Crowe and George Clooney are being sought, and that Mel Gibson was unavailable and already declined. Rumor also has it that Pitt could end up playing Achilles in the Wolfgang Petersen-directed TROY (written by Michael Tabb) -- that possibility already has actors like Eric Bana interested in playing opposite him as Hector.
