Madonna's Maverick Films has picked up the spec script KOOL HERC'S BREAKBEAT from scribe Paul Hirsch for low-six figures. The script is described as an odd-couple misadventure centering on two DJs in search of a prized hip-hop record. Once word gets out that it's lost, a mad dash ensues for the original record of the legendary "Kool Herc's Breakbeat." The real-life Kool Herc, to whom the title alludes, is regarded by many as the "godfather" of hip-hop.
