Aspiring screenwriters listen up...

Aspiring screenwriters listen up. Cannes 2002 Closing Thoughts: 'BTC' reporting for Dark Horizons from the Riviera offered some final thoughts as the event came to a close.

"How about this disappointing factor on Cannes... I saw a fair few dumpsters, more so at the rear of the most grandest of hotels, along the famous Croisette. Housed within these dumpsters were hundreds upon hundreds of feature length movie scripts. Producers, actors and actresses and directors get given screenplays by those seeking fame, fortune and above all else, success in the movie world. A suitcase is heavy enough as it is, so folks aren't gonna pack your scripts with them. A word of advice, don't take any scripts to Cannes. Take a synopsis and a heck of a lot of business cards. You'll feel disheartened if you see a dumpster full of screenplays and who knows, one of those scripts could have been the next Sixth Sense. If I had the time, I'd jump amongst the garbage and collect those scripts myself. If I had the money, I'd ship the whole dumpster back home. The movie world is tough. Get tough with it."
