BILLY JACK is back!
March 5th, 2002
In the worst casting news since the cast of BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES, we find --
Keanu Reeves will star in the remake of BILLY JACK. Now, you younguns might or might not know what BILLY JACK is. But let me tell you: Billy Jack, the man, the movie, the myth, was one of the coolest bastards ever put on the big screen. He was a half-Native American Nam vet who kicked ass with a swank ease. Tom Laughlin, who played Billy Jack, was sort of like Steve McQueen with a spiritual edge and a high kick.
Billy Jack defined cool.
Now imagine Keanu Reeves in that role! Impossible. Keanu is blank and bland. A stone-faced man who never escaped his BILL AND TED pedigree.
Do you think Canoe Reeves can look super-cool slowly taking off his shoes before wandering outside and beating the living hell out of a group of people? No. Hell look ridiculous.
They say Laughlin is involved in the production. Maybe he knows something I dont.
But I say BILLY JACK should stay the glorious memory that it is. There might not be room nowadays for Billy.
