MNF finally boots Miller

Millions of football fans can now turn up the sound on their TVs. Comedian and sesquipedalian Dennis Miller, whose studied comments during the Monday-night football games became so insufferably cringe-inducing it was like a grin-and-bear-it session when your five-year-old thinks he can play the piano, has been thrown overboard like jetsam to make way for John Madden.

Fox Sports released Madden from his contract, which had one year left. David Hill, Fox Sports Television Group chairman, said, "It was made very clear to us...that John's wish for a long, long time has been to work on 'Monday Night Football."

Dan Fouts is also out. Meaning MNF will revert back to a two-man booth -- the way it should be.
