Paramount Pictures has picked up the pitch SAM AND GEORGE from screenwriter Dean Georgaris for pocket change (reportedly a seven-figure deal). Mel Gibson is attached to star and Richard Donner will possibly direct -- pending script approval.
It is a modern-day, character-driven drama that is reportedly similar in vein to THE FISHER KING in that it centers on the emotional and psychological journey of two men who become friends.
