Script Report: X-MEN 2

According to Cinescape, the X-MEN 2 script is in good hands.

While talking to Prevue Magazine, screenwriter Zack Penn discussed his and David Hayter writing separate scripts for X-MEN 2 from a single treatment which will later be combined by director Bryan Singer into one.

"Normally I'd feel really hesitant to support having my work torn apart or having bits and pieces of it taken, but they do know what they are going for," Penn told Prevue Magazine. "If I write a scene that's too over the top for Bryan, it's good that he'll be the one to cut it out, because that is definitely something I trust him on."

"It's surprisingly non-contentious. If anything it makes me feel a little bit guilty, because David was here before I was. I've written plenty of screenplays and worked on a lot of movies, so I kind of feel my job is to help. If anything, I'm sympathetic to David's position. Is it ideal? Maybe no, but they're paying me very nicely and I love THE X-MEN. If they had called me in to consult on it and just said, 'would you sit in a room and brainstorm about THE X-MEN?' I'd have been psyched to do it for free!"
