Script Report: EARTHSEA
August 8th, 2001
Philippa Boyens, one of the numerous scribes for New Line Cinema's upcoming LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, has been tapped to adapt the first three novels of the ``Earthsea'' saga by Ursula Le Guin as a six-hour, big-budget miniseries for the Sci Fi Channel.
The ``Earthsea'' saga tells of a fantasy world not unlike the one imagined by ``Rings'' creator J.R.R. Tolkien. In ``Earthsea,'' a callow youth becomes a wizard's apprentice and realizes that his fate may be far more important than he ever dreamed possible.
