The 73rd Oscar Nominations, GLADIATOR Dominates...

The 73rd annual Academy Awards will be presented on March 25 in Los Angeles.

Well, the Oscar nods came down and frankly, what the hell were they thinking not nominating Almost Famous for Best Picture? Makes yeah wonder. Lets first take a look at the Best Screenplay and Adapted nominations. IF you recall, back in November, I did my picks for what screenplays will be nominated (you can find that here.)

Adapted Screenplay

Chocolate - Haven't read the script or seen the movie, anyone???

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - This one really puzzled me. A pretty good movie, good story, but so were a lot of other screenplays/movies. I'm not as big a fan of this movie as most I guess.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? - Another "I don't know," seems more a vote for the Coen Brothers than any kind of logic.

Traffic - Stephen Gaghan's script is excellent, this HAS TO be the winner in this group. God I hope so.

Wonder Boys - I could accept Steven Kloves's script as a winner as well.

Original Screenplay

Almost Famous - Cameron Crowe's script should win in this group.

Billy Elliot - This was a great script, and a well-told story.

Erin Brockovich - No, nah, no way.

Gladiator - A great movie, another good story, but not an Oscar script.

You Can Count On Me - Could be the sleeper in the group.

And now the rest of the nominations. Gladiator dominated the pack on Tuesday with 12 nominations, including best picture, actor and director.
