GLADIATOR Scribe To Do King Arthur Project

GLADIATOR scribe David Franzoni is reportedly taking a stab at the tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The project was sold as an outline. Variety is reporting that Franzoni is now writing the script for this potentially big-budget action drama. Disney is set up to do the picture which will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. PEARL HARBOR director Michael Bay is rumored to be involved as well.

Even more good news for Franzoni is that GLADIATOR seems poised for an Oscar run. The script by Franzoni, John Logan and William Nicholson could be nominated as well.

Though the King Arthur project is being closely guarded, I expect Franzoni to head down the road less traveled and write a script that is very true to that time period. No shining armor and castles of gold.
