Script Report: BASIC INSTINCT 2

There have been plenty of rumors about this for several days, today Variety confirms that BASIC INSTINCT 2 could possibly have Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg (EXISTENZ, CRASH) as director. He is reportedly still negotiating. Sharon Stone will reprise her role as the wealthy author who acts out the murderous plots to her novel. This time she gets involved in a love triangle with a psychiatrist.
Leora Barish and Henry Bean have been the writers working on the script. Look for Cronenberg, if he does indeed sign on, to take a stab at some re-writing. He's used to being the writer-director and seems to like the hands-on approach when it comes to the script.
