Tom Clancy Talks About THE SUM OF ALL FEARS...
August 24th, 2000
Coming Attractions has a great scoop concerning THE SUM OF ALL FEARS. 'Jim' caught up with Tom Clancy at a book signing this morning and asked him a few questions. According to this report, Harrison Ford wanted to change the antagonists from "Arabs and American Indians (from the novel) to right-wing militia Timothy McVey-types."
The report went on to say that Ford would not do the picture if the ending wasn't changed. In the book a nuclear bomb at the Super Bowl explodes.
With Ford now out of the picture, the script, will most likely "be returning to a more faithful adaption of the novel."
Akiva Goldman is the current screenwriter, and recently it was announced that Ben Affleck will replace Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan.
