WGAw Tells Writers to $ave, $ave, $ave

Michael Mahern, Sec-Tres. of the Writers Guild of America west is telling writers to begin saving money and gearing up for possible work stoppage next year. The guild is working on the aboliton of the "vanity credit" and advancement of crediting and an improvement of residuals in basic cable, foreign TV, made-for-pay, video and the Internet. Mahern's remarks come in the first WGAW's 2001 Negotiations Alert which kicks off their "It's Time" campaign, educating writers about the issues and kick starting some contentious bargaining.
