Script Review: THE HULK
July 8th, 2000
THE HULK is based on the Marvel Comic book hero. If you recall, scientist David Bruce Banner was subjected to an intense burst of gamma rays, when angry a biological transformation occurs making him into a savage green-skinned beast, the Incredible Hulk.
Got word of a script review for THE HULK at Coming Attractions. The draft in question is by Michael France. Michael Tolkin has also had a shot at the script as well.
Shlomo Raven reports: "What surprised me the most was that the script takes an incredible setup (no pun intended)...and actually makes it seem real. The old missile base origin is gone, but the new one makes sense. Banner is now a scientist who has invented a 'Gammasphere', which amplifies gamma radation to be used as an energy source. The writer really explained it out enough to make it seem like something off the Discovery channel, not out of a sixties comic book. Naturally, before long, there's an accident that blasts both Banner and a co-worker named Sterns with intense gamma radiation. The accident itself is really terrifying when Banner gets trapped inside the Gammasphere...it's much better, IMHO, than the gamma bomb thing."
