AMERICAN BEAUTY Screenwriter Wins another Award

Alan Ball, screenwriter of "American Beauty," won the top award from the Writers Guild of America This past week. Ball is of course nominated for an Oscar as well.
Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor won the Best Screenplay based on material previously produced or published for "Election," a satire about a perky overachiever running uncontested for student council. The screenplay was based on a novel by Tom Perrotta and the movie was made by Paramount Pictures.
