Screenwriter Evan Daugherty sold SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN in 2010 for an incredible sum of $3.2 million to Universal after a bidding war. He wrote the script while attending NYU film school. He took it to Hollywood and gave it to everyone he could, but no one was interested. After a year of failure he moved back home to Dallas and lived in his parent's basement. There he decided to keep writing and came up with SHARPNEL ( made into the movie KILLING SEASON starring John Travolta and Robert De Niro.) The script made THE BLACK LIST and won the PIPELINE CONTEST and thrust Daugherty back to LA and his career took off and led to the sale of THE HUNTSMAN. In this interview he talks about his background, film school, and his writing:
