Screenwriting in the News 12.29.2014

Ted Melfi (ST. VINCENT) has been tapped to adapt the teen drama novel “Every Exquisite Thing” for The Weinstein Company; Melfi will also go behind the camera as well. According to reports, the storyline follows a straight-laced female athlete “who starts to get in touch with her wild side after reading a cult classic novel”. Although unconfirmed, the novel in question is likely Oscar Wilde’s The Portrait of Dorian Gray, which famously includes the line,“Behind every exquisite thing that existed, there was something tragic.”
